YUVA forms collaborative relations with Yuva Unstoppable (India)

Yuva Unstoppable found out about the initiatives of YUVA in Mauritius and Africa and they were eager to meet the members to learn more about the namesake NGO and its projects. On Wednesday, 15 May 2019, members of YUVA met Mr Rishkumar, the Head Strategy & Communication of Yuva Unstoppable, and other members, at one of their schools located in New Delhi, India.

Yuva Unstoppable is India’s premier NGO, which has transformed 950 extremely poor government inner-city schools (better toilets, improved drinking water, scholarships, digital literacy, life skills training, etc.). Beginning in 2005, with a small group of enthusiastic individuals who strongly and deeply believed in the power of youth, Yuva Unstoppable has today become a nationwide thought, mobilising over 150,000 volunteers to benefit over 500,000 underprivileged children across 14 states of India.

The younger generation has the opportunity to propel the society into a higher stature by breaking down the barriers that cause social injustices. Yuva Unstoppable is one such force which relies on the strength of its volunteers and the power of its youth to bring about a positive change in the society.

Amongst the many initiatives that Yuva Unstoppable undertakes, is the Evolution programme wherein it partners with philanthropists, social entrepreneurs and corporate houses to improve the basic infrastructural amenities such as drinking water, urinals, wash areas and the classrooms, of municipal schools, thus improving the lives of the children, especially the daughters making them more self-reliant, encouraging them to educate themselves, learn and participate in classes and workshops in various subjects improving their skills and their self-esteem.

The vision of Yuva Unstoppable is to transform 10,000 Govt./Govt. Aided Schools and to provide 10,000 Educational Scholarships to needy yet bright minds by 2023.

During the meeting at the school based in New Delhi, Yuva Unstoppable introduced their organisation, their initiatives and the different projects they are involved in across India. Following this, YUVA also presented its initiatives being undertaken in Mauritius and Africa. After a discussion to identify areas where both organisations could join forces and work on, members of YUVA were invited for a visit of the school. The school had transformed the traditional setting into smart classrooms. YUVA members were also given the opportunity to meet and interact with some of the students, who had prepared beautiful cards and gifted them to the members of YUVA.

This first meeting was an essential step to forming a collaborative relationship between YUVA and Yuva Unstoppable in the long term.
